IIMSAM will do whatever it takes to help after major earthquake hits Haiti

Director-General of the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (hereinafter "IIMSAM") Remigio Maradona today voiced concern for the people of Haiti after a major earthquake struck off the coast of the impoverished Caribbean nation.

President Clinton and the people of Haiti. IIMSAM with also joint efforts of the International Community by mobilizing its Goodwill Ambassadors “We have realized the power of celebrities in winning the hearts and minds of people for advocacy is incomparable, we are confident that our GWAs will bring the world’s attention to Haiti and its devastation."
A 7.0-magnitude quake reportedly hit south-west of the capital, Port-au-Prince, late yesterday afternoon. Network Communication Stations have been severely hampered and disabled by the earthquake. The headquarters of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in Port-au-Prince sustained serious damage along with other UN installations as several media outlets have reported.
IIMSAM was committed to help Haiti before and after this catastrophe in improving the health of its peoples and in particular fighting malnutrition through our 2010 projected pilot-project in the Republic of Haiti. IIMSAM`s nutritional Spirulina programmes that have been proven to be effective against malnutrition and various illnesses at our Dar al Muamineen IIMSAM Centre in The Republic of Kenya which serves
over 5000 children and adults suffering from malnutrition and other deprivations
and diseases resulting from undernourishment amongst disabled children and

*Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, with an annual estimated gross domestic product (GDP) of $390 per person or less than a $2dollars a day.
*MINUSTAH was set up in 2004 and currently has more than 9,000 military and police personnel and nearly 2,000 civilian staff.

• “For WHO, Spirulina represents an interesting food for multiple reasons, rich in iron and protein, and is able to be administered to children without any risk. We at WHO consider it a very suitable food” - United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland June 8Th, 1993.
• Spirulina- was declared by the United Nations World Food Conference of
1974 as the "best food for the future".
• The UN-Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Report on Spirulina 2008: There is a need for both national governments and inter-governmental organizations to re-evaluate the potential of Spirulina to fulfill both their own food security needs as well as a tool for their overseas development emergency response efforts.
