Spirulina, for improved life!
Hilde Achieng, a housewife with two young sons living in Kenya fell extremely sick in the year 2009. After undergoing few tests, she found out that she was HIV positive. Due to her limited resources and incapability to pay high medical fees, she could not get the necessary treatment.
On learning about the center, she approached the IIMSAM Dar Al-Muamineen Center in Kenya. Knowing that she will be unable to receive antiretroviral drugs, Hilde joined the program at the center when she was confirmed to be HIV positive. In spite of her misfortune she remains positive and actively started taking our recommended dosages. Hilde has made vast improvements since beginning Spirulina treatments at the center. She no longer experiences muscle aches and weakness, she has also regained a healthy appetite and has gained six pounds since she began taking Spirulina. Although medications for antiretroviral drugs have been unavailable, she has been able to maintain her health with regular visits to the center. The center has given her a sense of security and has enabled her to continue providing for her family and be an active member within her community.
The high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the Kisumu/Kogelo region of Kenya has hindered both economic and social progress. With the initiation of IIMSAM’S feeding program in this region individuals like Hilde have benefited from the additional nutrients provided by Spirulina. These treatments have significantly improved the health of those infected and affected by the virus.
By expanding IIMSAM health services to the communities in Central and East Africa, individuals have shown prosperity and productivity by regaining the roles that allow them to be active participants within their communities.
